About PostMarkedEmail Senders Partners International Info Center Company

International Overview

Internationally, the Electronic Postmark® is known as the Electronic Postal Certification Mark, or EPCM. Posts around the world have launched or are considering launching EPCM systems.

The stated goal for the EPCM is that posts want to play the role of a trusted third party in electronic communications, similarly to what they have always been doing for the secure movement of physical items.  However, these EPCM systems have seen limited use and limited market sucess. They are primarily used today for proprietary registered electronic mail systems or for document signing applications.

PostmarkedEmail enhances the post's EPCM system by adding guaranteed delivery of email to the customer’s existing email inbox. Using PostmarkedEmail, posts can now expand their service offerings to penetrate the lucrative transactional email and marketing email segments.

A point of clarity – the PostmarkedEmail system is an EPM application, not a standalone EPM system.  It is designed to interface to any (or multiple) EPM or UPU S43 EPCM systems to postmark and timestamp multiple classes of PostmarkedEmail.

Email - A Huge Market Opportunity For Posts

While registered mail and document signing are important markets, they are dwarfed by the size of the email market.  In 2007, it is estimated that 216 billion permission-based messages, and 750 billion total legitimate email messages, will be sent.  Furthermore, the email market is still growing exponentially while at the same physical mail volumes are beginning to decline.  If posts could capture even a small fraction of this market, where the need for trust and the benefits of postal certification are compelling to senders and receivers, the revenue potential is significant. Email  is under siege from phishers and spammers to the point where the system is on the verge of collapse.  People simply don’t open email that purports to be from banks and other companies that they want and need to do business with electronically.  Solutions to date that posts have deployed have largely relied on a separate, trusted inbox administered by the post, and accessed separately by the recipient, who then must maintain at least two inboxes.  The revolutionary breakthrough of the PostmarkedEmail solution is that it brings trust to the existing mailbox, by first modifying the ISP’s filtering systems to accept PostmarkedEmail without blocking it, and then modifying the inbox to put a trusted icon in the inbox next to each PostmarkedEmail indicating that it is trusted and safe to open. Epostmarks is willing and able to configure the system to attach to any post’s EPCM system that is interested in running a PostmarkedEmail pilot and launching a PostmarkedEmail service in their country.
